Preview–Want to sync SharePoint sites with OneDrive Next Gen sync client?

Onedrive01Note this is only preview and should not be used in production, even if this a highly demanded feature!

A major release to OneDrive Next Generation Sync client was release during Ignite 2016, the possibility to sync SharePoint Online document libraries and OneDrive that is shared with you. Also the OneDrive activity center is new and shown to the right. Read more about the updates.

And it is quire simple to test the new features, just follow these steps:

  • Stop all your existing SharePoint document library synchronizations (Please note that your files will stay in the folder %UserProfile%\SharePoint, you have to delete them manually to free up space)
  • Download and install the new client
  • Create this registry key[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\OneDrive\TeamSiteSyncPreview=dword:00000001
  • Now, head over to Office.com, choose SharePoint from the app launcher and start to sync your document libraries.
