I just noticed that Lenovo released a new driver for my W520 Synaptic touchpad.
The cool thing with this update is the Windows 8 integration, so now I can swipe from the right to the left and that will give me the charm bar or if I swipe from the left to right it will switch between my open applications. I can even swipe from the top down to get the application bar.

This video will show more feature than I’ve got, so you have to test and see what your updated driver will give you
