Hitting Error Code 2-28 and 30088-27 with Office 365 ProPlus updates?

These error codes has hit me multiple times while trying to upgrade my Office 365 ProPlus from a local source.

Verify the following to help you troubleshoot

  1. Can System and User view the update files?
  2. Are the source files corrupt? Need to download again?
  3. Does it work from another computer or other user?
  4. Is the registry keys correct in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\ClickToRun\Configuration. Are UpdateUrl, UpdatesEnabled, UpdateDeadline set as expected?
  5. Test the UpdateUrl path, add “Office\Data\V32.cab” to the path and make sure a CAB file openes up.

    If there is no V32.cab file, make a copy of the .CAB with the highest version number
